About Me

Hi, I'm Melanie Summers!

I grew up on a farm overlooking the Ohio River Valley. After graduating high school in 1973, I went on to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. As an educator, I attended seminars, conferences, and workshops all over the United States, including West Virginia, and regional functions. I also obtained my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. During my career, I taught not only in West Virginia, but also in Virginia and Arizona, where I eventually retired in 2017 after 42 years of service.

I have always been interested in natural remedies and listened and learned from my grandmother, the local “Medicine woman.” After retiring from teaching, I rediscovered my interest in health and nutrition, as well as natural ways to combat sickness, and now I hold my certification as a health and wellness coach through the American Sports and Fitness Association! I am a testament to my craft because I have lost 80 pounds, as well as my husband, who has lost around 100 pounds!

Not stopping there, I sharpened my pencil and cultivated my hobby of writing. I am now a two-time international best-selling author through Ignite Publishing. My first book, "Ignite Your Wisdom", a compilation of around 35 authors, is available HERE. My second book, "Ignite Forgiveness", is available HERE. My standalone book, "Learning Outside the Line: Innovative Homeschool Solutions" is scheduled to be released in September 2023.

As an entrepreneur, I use my skills acquired in my teaching career to coach and consult with parents who are homeschooling their children. My degree is for Elementary Education Pre-K through 8th grade but I am qualified to provide service to parents of high school students, too. For a small fee, I offer tutoring for the occasional student in specific areas of concern.

I am the mother of two children, Ryan, of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Chad, of Hagerstown, Maryland; a stepdaughter, Brandi, of Chandler, Arizona; and 5 grandchildren. I currently live in Mesa, Arizona with my husband, Rick, two cats; Bugsie and Mickey; and my pup, Ollie.
